Tomorrow (Sep 23) marks the grand opening of a brewery and pub being opened and operated by Grand Rapids Community College. While it might sound (really) odd that a college would be opening a location like this, it’s an excellent addition to the school’s curriculum for their Craft Brewing, Packaging and Service Operations certificate program that you’re now wishing you could be a part of since discovering it exists.
Also, since your curiosity has been piqued, coursework for the program will happen at the brewery, via internships and in the field. If you’re interested in visiting the brewery and pub, they will only be open to the public on Thursdays and Fridays and only during the school’s academic schedule.
No word yet on whether or not they will be selling the craft beer by the bottle, but -if so- it really seems like the perfect time to break out your Michigan Beer Camp Hoodie.
A college downtown is testing the theory that beer does make you smarter.
Grand Rapids Community College said today it will open Fountain Hill Brewery and the brewpub Peter’s Pub in downtown Grand Rapids — located on the first floor of the Wisner-Bottrall Applied Technology Center, at 151 Fountain St. NE — with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday.
GRCC said the brewpub is the only federally and state-licensed brewpub on a campus that’s owned and operated by a college. Continue Reading
