I know, Kalamazoo isn’t necessarily the center of activity as far as things to do in Michigan is concerned, but there’s some pretty neat stuff going on in Kazoo over this weekend (Sep 23-25) if you’re looking for an excuse to get out of the house.
Along with The Verve Pipe concert, there are a handful of festivals and a dog-included 5K fun run, the real star of the show (for this writer at least) is the Bicycle Tour Series of Downtown Kalamazoo Breweries (which you can learn more about at http://westmichiganbeertours.com/bike-tours/).
As usual for Kalamazoo, there are a couple of great outdoor markets going on, including the Kalamazoo Farmers Market on Saturday from 7am to 2pm and the Portage Market on Sunday from Noon to 4pm.
And if you’re in the mood for something a little more… brutal… The Roller Derby on Saturday at 5:30 should offer an exciting change of pace after spending your day at the market.
With the weather cooling down, if you plan on heading out make sure to grab your Fresh Coast Hoodie to keep comfy out there! And if you don’t have one yet, it’s on sale for more than 20 percent off right now (and will get sent to you with free shipping) making it the perfect time to get one of these stylish hoodies.
KALAMAZOO, MI — What are you doing this weekend?
I hope enjoying a Pure Michigan fall day or maybe going to ArtPrize in Grand Rapids to see all the art or taking the kids to an apple orchard.
Well, I’m headed to Kalamazoo for The Verve Pipe concert Saturday night at Bell’s Eccentric Cafe.
But that’s not the only thing going.
I reached out to our friend Renee Newman of Discover Kalamazoo to ask her about this weekend’s biggest events. (Listen to our “Behind the Mitten” podcast below.) Continue Reading
