We can all admit that when it comes to keeping the family together, it is the moms that do all the “heavy lifting.” They are usually the ones who are coordinating everyone’s schedule, planning the meals, shopping for the meals and cooking the meals. Moms also watch over the homework to make sure it gets done properly. They administer first-aid when needed. They also make sure everyone has clean clothes to start their day. That’s a lot of work. Is it any wonder that moms need a night out in Traverse City? Fortunately, there are plenty of fun bars and other terrific spots where moms can kick back, relax and enjoy a well-earned night off. Who is in your mom squad? When you have the group assembled, here at the places to visit in Traverse City:
Hotel Indigo H & L Social
The Hotel Indigo is a vibrant hotel along the downtown Traverse City waterfront. This is part of the Warehouse District that has been completely revitalized in recent years. Once inside the hotel, you’ll want to hop a ride up to the H & L Social. This is a rooftop bar that offers up spectacular views of the Grand Traverse Bay. Here is where you could start your mom’s night with a round of cocktails. Not sure what to drink? Ask the bartender to surprise you. They will no doubt be able to present you with a very appealing adult beverage.
Poppcocks has been a favorite dining spot among the Traverse City locals since 1989. This quaint eatery is the perfect moms’ night destination for an amazing meal. Remember moms, you won’t be cooking or washing the dishes so enjoy. The seasonal menu will always feature fresh fare from local farmers. This being mom’s night out means cocktails will be on the agenda. Be sure to try one of the many signature cocktails created exclusively at Poppycocks. There are also eight taps of local brews and ciders. Yes, this is a great place to sample what Traverse city has to offer in the way of food, drinks, and fun.
North Peak Brewing Company
If your mom’s night is happening in the summertime, then you’re in luck. Over at the North Peak Brewing Company, you’ll be treated to live music on the outdoor deck all summer long. Since this is a working brewery, you’ll also be able to traverse through a beer tasting. There is no sense writing out which beers will be on tap because they’re always changing those taps. There are plenty of delicious appetizers to pair with your beer like the cheddar fondue made with Siren Amber Ale or the beer-steamed mussels. Did we mention this is a brewery?
Left Foot Charley
Left Foot Charley is best described as an “urban winery.” Here they ferment, age and bottle wine. What that doesn’t do is actually grow the grapes. That’s because the sprawling campus was once home to over 3,000 residents. The plan is to develop the surrounding area as a haven for artists and a home for bakeries, bars, coffee houses, and restaurants.
Left Foot Charley is already setting the bar high in their Barrel Room. Here you can experience a 60-minute tasting that combines the very best vintages that the winery has to offer along with some amazing cheese and appetizer pairings. You’ll leave Left Foot Charley feeling full and carting a few bottles of their best wines for your next dinner party.
Clearly, the itinerary for your mom’s night can be as diverse and fun as Traverse City always is. The goal is to have a safe night out. Rideshare options and taxis are always standing by to get you from one destination to the next. Of course, there is nothing wrong with splurging for a limousine. Make your next mom’s night out a night to remember.
