The 5th installment of the action-packed, Michael Bay movie “Transformers” is set to film in Detroit, Michigan. Though this is not a surprise because Detroit is also the location of 3 of the past “Transformers” films. Because of the several “Transformers” films filmed in Detroit, this movie will use some of the same locations where they filmed before. The said project is expected to create full-time jobs to several locals throughout the rest of the filming time. Michigan state is said to give the film a large incentive as long as half of the 850 crew will be locals.
Detroit is a great city for the film not surprisingly because it is the hometown of some of the best actors and musicians like Eminem and Madonna. The film will be released June 23, 2017, and will be followed by another 2 sequels in 2018 and 2019. The film will star Mark Wahlberg as Cade Yeager and Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime.
Directed by Michael Bay, “Transformer 5” is already expected to film in Detroit, Michigan. This is not the first “Transformers” movie filmed in the state as the original 2007 film “Transformers,” as well as the sequels “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” and “Transformers: Age of Extinction” were also filmed there.
The former Statler Hotel in downtown Detroit was specially designed to look like Hong Kong for the fourth installment of the “Transformers” franchise.
