Now this is a topic that strikes near and dear to the heart: where can you get the best burgers in upstate New York? The question is hard enough when you just consider a single city or even town in the state, but it gets much harder when you consider this is half of the entire state and all of the joints in it. Despite this, there are definitely a few gems to look for if you’re in the area.

Crave, Albany

Crave is located at in Albany at 217 Western Ave., and is one of the rare burger joints that is well known, easy to find, and well worth going to. The burgers are scrumptious and filling, and everything Crave sells alongside the burgers are just as amazing. The fried pickles, in particular, are a crowd pleasing favorite, and the frozen yoghurt on sale is definitely a fantastic way to finish a meal here. Give Crave a call at (518) 650-6463 or use GrubHub or ChowNow to order something.

Build A Burger Pub, Albany

Build A Burger Pub is another Albany eatery, found at 2012 Central Ave. It’s a much more casual affair than one might expect, with many of the regulars being on first-name basis with the staff. Don’t let that intimidate you out of having a fine burger though, as this place, with its bright red inside walls, is a great place to enjoy a good meal. Expect big burgers and healthy piles of fries and other sides when you grab something to eat. Build A Burger Pub can be reached at (518) 869-0494 and closes at 11 PM.

Black Cat Bar & Grill, Utica

The Black Cat Bar & Grill is located in Utica, at 470 French Rd. This is a great little restaurant with a friendly atmosphere, as well as a delicious assortment of burgers and sides that will make anyone’s mouth water. If you’re of age, there’s also a fine bar inside, as the name suggests, so you can grab one of your favorite adult beverages to go with your favorite burger. The Black Cat can be reached at (315) 724-4444 and is open 11:30 AM – 11 PM every day except Sunday.

And nothing goes with a great burger quite like an excellent beer. If you agree, you should check out our New York Love Beer hoodie!
